~ Nainital
Revisited ~
Arnav sped through the streets of Delhi as
he made his way towards Nainital. He was late for his meeting. This wasn’t like
him.
“It’s
all Khushi’s fault. Who asked her to start fighting with me early in the
morning? That too for no bloody fault of mine.” Arnav grumbled as he navigated through the heavy
traffic on the road. He hated leaving Khushi after an argument.
Reaching the highway, he expected the
traffic to loosen up a little. On the contrary, Arnav faced a jam packed road.
Uttering curses, Arnav turned off the engine as he waited it out.
“Hey
Devi Maiyya! Dekhke chala nahi sakte gaadi ko? Kis tarah ke insaan hai app?”
“What
the hell?” Arnav uttered in
disbelief. ‘The voice seemed to be coming
from…. –‘
“Maar
daalte mujhe aap! Unbelievable!”
Arnav swiftly got out of his car and
opened the boot of his car….expecting to see her cowering inside - with a box
of pakodas to keep her company.
He was greeted with an empty space. No
Khushi. No pakodas.
“Now
she’s messing with my head too. Damnit.” Arnav shook his head as he made his way back to the driver’s seat –
missing the woman on the Scooty.
A woman who had hazel colored eyes with
flecks of gold in them, and a veil covering her face. For good measure.
Khushi breathed in relief. Damn the driver
who had intercepted her before. She had nearly revealed her presence to Arnav.
Her surprise for Arnav was still in place. If only she could keep up her
disguise till they reached Nainital.
‘Laad Governor kahin ke.’ She muttered to herself as she moved her vehicle
further away from Arnav’s car, lest he recognize her.
